Patrick has been teaching drums since 2022 and has over 10 years of professional playing experience. He has extensively studied jazz drumming with Butch Miles of the Count Basie Band, and has had many years of playing experience in rock and jazz ensembles. He started teaching freelance lessons in 2022, and greatly values the privilege of teaching and inspiring people to pursue and reach their musical goals. His experience of studying jazz drumming with Butch Miles was one that greatly influenced his connection to the drumming tradition as well as his understanding of Jazz music as an important part of musical culture. In addition to that, his experience of playing in rock bands throughout the years has made him familiar with the rock repertoire and the process of learning music by ear quickly. His teaching style is rooted in building a proper foundation when it comes to drumming technique to later apply to musical situations. He enjoys learning about the student's musical interests and wants to cater towards their goals and drumming aspirations. He also likes to focus greatly on style, repertoire, ear training, and goal setting.
