Billy

Guitar

Billy is a guitarist whose career spans over 30 years in the studio and onstage. He has played on hundreds of recordings and toured the world with a wide range of internationally known artists. He began his career in New York City, recording for Grammy Award-winning producers like Phil Ramone, Ben Wisch, and Rob Mathes. Since then he’s played guitar for a great variety of well-known artists in many genres, including Suzanne Vega, Paula Cole, Michelle Schocked, Steve Winwood, Sting, Anne Murray, Alejandro Escovedo, Garland Jeffreys, Eric Anderson, Dar Williams, and Mathew Morrison. His specialties are Americana roots music. Blues, rock, soul and R&B. Slide guitar is a big part of his voice on the instrument. His playing style and approach to teaching is based on fitting into an arrangement. How to support the song without distracting the listener. How to add depth and emotion to a performance rather than get in the way and clutter things up. His focus is about things like tone, feel, emotion, and energy, rather than speed and ego. In addition to teaching basic skills, He also has the experience to offer practical direction in overall musicianship for those who want to continue and make a career out of music. For others, he will make the process fun and engaging with the hope they will want to continue their journey on the instrument.

“Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”
